Palace Square is the main square of Saint Petersburg, an architectural ensemble that emerged in the second half of the 18th and first half of the 19th century. The square is formed by monuments of history and culture of federal significance: the Winter Palace, the Headquarters of the Guards Corps, the General Staff Building with the Triumphal Arch, the Alexander Column. Its size is about 5 hectares (about twice the size of Red Square in Moscow). As part of the historical buildings in the center of Saint Petersburg, the square is included in the World Heritage List.
