The webcam shows the Shymbulak Ski Resort. Shymbulak is a popular ski resort in Kazakhstan, near Almaty city, located on the Zailiysky Alatau ridge slightly higher than the famous high-mountain skating rink Medeu.
Favorable natural conditions attract tourists, climbers, and skiers to this area with accessible terrain, and make it possible to lay ski slopes with a height difference of 900–1000 m. In this regard, since 1954 the Shymbulak skiing sports base began to operate here. The length of the track for downhill from the Talgar Pass is 3,500 m, slalom — giant 1,500 m, average width 25 m, slope 11°—29°. Such parameters allow athletes to develop maximum speeds along its entire length.
