Genichesk is located on the coast of the Sea of Azov opposite the end of the Arabatskaya Strelka Spit, with which it is connected by a road bridge across the Thin Strait.
Arabat Spit is a narrow and long strip of land in the northeastern part of the Crimean peninsula, consisting mainly of shell material, and separating the Sivash Bay from the Sea of Azov.
