Webcam in the enclosure with Japanese cranes, Muravyovka
Live webcam is installed in an aviary with Japanese cranes in Muravyovsky Park, Amur Region. The owners of the enclosure, a pair of Japanese cranes, are named Snowman and Niko. The Snowman Crane is a descendant of the Kivili and Shizuoki couple that have bred for many years in the park, and Niko flew to Muravyovsky Park in the fall of 2022 from the Orto-Doydu Zoo in Yakutsk. The couple was brought together in an aviary in September 2022 and now there is an opportunity to watch online how a new family of cranes is being formed.
The Japanese crane is the rarest of the Amur cranes and the second smallest in the world. Its world population is only about 2,800-3,000 individuals, and 1,500 of them constantly inhabit the Japanese islands, without flying to the continent.
The rest of the population is continental, nesting almost exclusively in the Amur basin and flying off to winter in South China and the Korean Peninsula. The largest, massive and rare species of cranes living on the territory of Russia: the weight of an individual reaches 11 kg, growth is up to 160 cm, wingspan is up to 2.5 meters.
The combination of white and black feathers, slender neck and legs and natural ability to move gracefully make this bird one of the most beautiful in the world. A distinctive feature is the presence of a red Β«capΒ» on the head and a dark Β«maskΒ» free from plumage in the front of the head.
The video surveillance project for Japanese cranes is being implemented jointly with the regional public ecological organization AmurSoES, the Muravyevsky Natural Park for Sustainable Nature Management.
